Can you believe it? Here we stand, on the cusp of 2024, bidding farewell to the whirlwind that was 2023. What a journey it has been, with its exhilarating highs and challenging lows. Yet, amid it all, I could sense the guiding hand of God shaping my life.
In the bygone year of 2023, one of my significant goals was to delve into the entirety of the Bible, to fathom God and His Word at a profound level. Interestingly, it wasn’t until the final weeks of the year that a revelation struck me. I started grasping the deeper reasons behind Jesus’ arrival—not solely as a sacrificial lamb for our sins but also as the gateway for the Holy Spirit. Have you explored the book of John? It’s a treasure trove on this topic!
John 16:7 from the CSB version resonated deeply:
“Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you.”
This verse illuminated the significance of Jesus’ resurrection, not just for atonement but also for the emergence of the Holy Spirit. And there’s this beautiful passage in John 14:26 that adds even more depth:
“‘But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.'”
Isn’t that incredible? This verse emphasizes the pivotal role of the Holy Spirit, also known as the Counselor, sent by the Father in Jesus’ name. Its purpose is to be our teacher and to remind us of all the teachings of Jesus. I will dive deeper into the Holy Spirit later 🙂
So, for the canvas of 2024, I’ve painted resolutions based on the game changer that I found. It is ultimately growing my relationship with the Holy Spirit, and through Him, I know that I can accomplish anything on my list.I will let him lead, guide and teach me all things this year!. I will aim to spend as much time with Him as possible.
This is the game changer that will make this the most purposeful yet.
